Standards Carnauba wax T1 :
Description and benefits:
Carnauba wax is derived from the leaves of a Brazilian palm tree, Copernicia cerifera. The wax is secreted naturally by the tree's leaves to prevent them from drying out. The wax is a waxy solid, varying in colour from deep yellow to light beige.
100% vegetable origin, carnauba wax is a very hard, dense natural wax with a high melting point: 80-86°C.
Non-GMO wax, additive-free and not tested on animals.
Properties:
- Carnauba wax imparts hardness and strength and reduces viscosity in cosmetic formulations.
- Of all the natural waxes, it provides the most shine.
- Emulsifying and stabilising properties
- Particularly resistant to humidity
- Easier to remove from the mould
- Less sensitive to temperature than beeswax
- Compatible with most vegetable and mineral waxes and a wide variety of natural and synthetic resins.
Examples of applications:
- Cosmetics and pharmaceutical industry: it is mainly used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals in stick formulas where it ensures good release from the mould, adds hardness and consistency and gives shine to the surface (ideal for mascaras and hair styling products...).
With the highest melting point of all natural waxes, carnauba wax is used to improve the thermal stability of many cosmetic products.
The pharmaceutical industry also uses this wax in powder form to coat tablets.
- Food industry: Widely used to coat sweets, chocolate and fruit, as well as in the biscuit industry as a release agent.
But also for :
- manufacture of furniture polish
- manufacture of varnishes for cars, floor coverings and shoe varnishes
